Natural Gas can be used to cool buildings and thereby reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The use of Natural Gas for cooling buildings is more environmentally friendly as it displaces the use of electricity, which is largely produced by coal fired power stations.

Four Technologies Available

There are currently four established technologies that use Natural Gas to provide cooling energy or conditioned air:
ABSORBTION: direct gas fired, utilising hot water or steam
GAS ENGINE DRIVEN VAPOUR COMPRESSION (GED)
CO-GENERATION WITH ABSORBTION COOLING: driven by recovered heat
DESICCANT SYSTEMS
